MITOCHONDRIAL RESEARCH · IP-SS31-10
Mitochondrial membrane and cardiolipin research.
SS-31, also called elamipretide, is a mitochondria-targeting tetrapeptide that binds cardiolipin. In 2025 the FDA granted accelerated approval to the prescription product Forzinity for improving muscle strength in patients with Barth syndrome weighing at least 30 kg.
WHAT RESEARCHERS STUDY
COMMUNITY DISCUSSION · ANECDOTAL
Reddit communities often discuss SS-31 in relation to fatigue, cellular energy and mitochondrial dysfunction. Experiences range from perceived energy improvement to worsened fatigue.
EVIDENCE LIMITS
FDA approval is limited to a specific prescription product and a narrow rare-disease indication. It does not validate unapproved research material or broad anti-ageing claims.
